My baby sister turned 19 this week, which means I’ve only got one more year until all of my siblings are in our 20s. Scary thought. I’ve felt out of touch with my sister over the past few months since Christmas, and getting to chat even for a short while about her life was really awesome.
It seems to be a week of intolerance (I hate that word because of how much it is abused, but I can’t think of a better one right now) on college campuses in the news. Johns Hopkins and Texas A&M (fortunately vetoed by the student body president) have both decided this week that people with different view points than what is mainstream at their respective universities shouldn’t be eligible for recognition by the student body whether by receiving official club recognition or funding. For starters it made me grateful that I went to a college that encourages diversity of thought and dialogue between people of different viewpoints. But it also made me sad that we’ve become so polarized as a society that there are some who are now ok with denying rights to other people because they make them “uncomfortable.”
Lent is over, which means I can eat meat on Fridays again. To celebrate, I’m going to a Brazilian steakhouse with co-workers. I’d like to say I planned it that way, but the real motivation is to send off our friend Jimmy who is moving to our New York office next week. Our group has had a pretty good retention rate since he’s the first of the 11 of us in my department who started in 2011 to leave, but it’s still sad to see the group begin to fall apart as one of us goes his separate way.
So… this exists. Doctor Who Puppet Pals!
Based off of my favorite puppet series about juvenile wizards and witches.
Speaking of Doctor Who, I am so glad that it is back, and just as excited to have discovered a group that watches it on a weekly basis. I think the next few months will be good ones indeed.
Over the past month I’ve really rediscovered my love for social dancing. I went two-stepping for the first time in a couple months last night, and took a latin dance class with one of my favorite people in the world all through March. I think it is really important for us to have hobbies as we become adults, lest we start to go crazy. Definitely need to do more dancing.
My tribute to the papal Twitter account has been recovered from suspension, is updated for the new pope, and is now completely up to date. Definitely check it out and follow if you enjoy being entertained and getting quick spiritual guidance at the same time. https://twitter.com/Pontifex_pir
